John,

Great suggestion! Freezing means that it is readily available (good time management), especially if you need to change your menu, which I am prone to do in the cold winter months when the mood hits me for soup.

I perused the site you mentioned and found it very interesting. Our readers might also be interested in the free (speaking of economical) baking demos that the King Arthur Flour Company is holding in CA, UT and GA.

Thanks for walkin' and talkin' with me.

As both a cost and sodium-saving measure, I've begin making my own vegetable stock. In addition to being inexpensive and very low-sodium, it freezes well!

I've found many good examples of how much more cost-effective it is to prepare food from scratch on the King Arthur Flour test kitchen blog. They often compare the cost of buying prepared from the grocery store with making at home. Here's an example: http://www.kingarthurflour.com/blog/2008/10/13/the-722-bailout-cinnamon-streusel-coffeecake/

Anna,
Pipecleaners are the best as they are the easiest to grip and provide the length needed to attach to the wreath, etc. or to form a hook. Thanks for sharing with my readers. And, yes, we should do some hanging out. :)

I just laughed when I read some of your comments because you answered what I was thinking! We FCS Pros need to hang together more often. LOL

When it comes to Christmas bows, I use pipecleaners to make my BIG, puffy decorating bows. I simply use 2 twists when constructing them, then use the bows on top of my trees, rails, PO box, etc. At the end of the season, I untwist, then roll up the tails first, then the actual deconstructed bow. I have reused my wire and wide silk bows for about 15 years this way and they still look fresh, perky (no ironing), and store in a minimal amount of space! Love it and the savings ($ and time).

Mary,

Thank you again for your comments, and I hope that you have been back.

I appreciate your willingness to host a link to my site. I have been working on badges for my site, and alas, so far I have been unsuccessful. I admit that I am limited by my lack of technological savvy. If I can get this corrected in the future, I will let you know.

Have a great Thanksgiving with your family and friends.

Hi Debbe,

I just found your blog through Faithful Bloggers, and I really like all that you've shared. I see that you haven't posted yet in October, so I was going to send an email, but don't see one, so I hope you check this old post and see this comment.

Just want to tell you that I like your blog very much, and would love to put a link to it on my blog so that others can find you...I know they would enjoy it as much as I do. Perhaps you're on a break...I know I'm ready for a blogging break. I just hope you are coming back to blogland... I would love to get to know you a little better anyway, because, as I said, I really like your perspective and agree with what you've said.

Hope to hear from you..God bless.
